Off Site Account Access FAQ
What is off site access?
- Off site access is provided through Athens.
- With off site access you get access to:
- all local electronic resources (databases, journals, books).
- all the electronic resources available through membership in AZHIN.
- access any time, anywhere, from any computer with an Internet connection.
How do I get a username and password?
- Contact your institution's librarian to ask for an account.
- Your librarian may create an account for you or direct you to a registration page,
- If you do not have a librarian, this page will refer you to the administrator who can create an account for you.
What if I forget my password?
- Your librarian can reset your password for you. If you do not have a librarian, use this page to contact the administrator who created the account for you.
How do I get to the resources?
- You can get to the resources using the login on your local libraries web page or the generic AZHIN webpage.
- You can also download the Athens toolbar and use it on your home computer.
- The
Athens toolbar give access to the resources by company they are
purchased form and does not give you access to the AZHIN A to Z
journals list.
Why was I denied access to a resource?
- Some resources have a limit on the number of simultaneous users, try again a bit later.
- You may have lost your log in information by opening a new browser session.
- You are only authenticated in the browser session that you used to log in.
- Opening a new browser session by clicking on the browser icon requires you to log in again.
- You found the resource through Google or another search engine and tried to log in using an Athens link:
- It may have failed because we do not have a subscription to the resouce, or we may not have it in electronic format.
